Patreon is a platform where creators can get money from their YouTube subscribers or Instagram followers, and they may provide sneak peaks before their content is released, extra footage, etc. in exchange.

The name 'patreon' closely resembles the word 'patron' which has two meanings:

patron:

n. 1 a person who given financial or other support to a person, organization, or cause.

2 a regular customer of a restaurant, hotel, etc.

As you can see, Patreon (closely similar to patron) utilizes both the meanings since people pay money to creators and that too in a regular fashion!

This is purely my speculation and I may be wrong. But still this is amazing to ponder about, in my opinion!
